Aedes

Size: 5 - 10mm.
They can transmit Dengue, Yellow Fever, Filariasis, Chikungunya, Ross-River-Fever and Rifttal-Virus.
You find them as a disease vector in Africa, America, Asia, Australia and in the Western Pacific Area.
Their activity is during day and night.
Prevention: Clothes, Moskitonet and insect repellent. While traveling into yellow fever areas, you need a special immunization.


Anopheles

Size: 5 - 10 mm.
They can transmit Malaria and Filariasis.
You find them as a disease vector in Africa, America, Asia and in the Western Pacific Area.
Their activity is from the evening until the morning.
Prevention: Clothes, moskitonet and insect repellent. While traveling into malaria endemic areas, please talk to your physician regarding the right prophylaxis.


Culex

Size: 5 - 10mm.
They can transmit Japan.Enzephalitis, St. Louis-Enzephalitis, Filariasis, Chikungunya, Ross-River-Fever, Rifttal-Virus and West-Nil-Fever (Kunjin-Virus).
You find them as a disease vector in Africa, America, Asia, Australia and in the Western Pacific Area.
Their activity is during the evening and the night.
Prevention: Clothes, moscitonet and insect repellent.


Gnats

Size: 0,5 - 4mm.
They can transmit Filariasis.
You find them as a disease vector in Africa, America, Asia, Europe and in the Western Pacific Area.
Their activity is during day and night.
Prevention: Clothes, moscitonet and insect repellent.


Blackfly

Size: 2 - 5mm.
They can transmit Onchocerciasis (River blindness).
You find them as a disease vector in Africa, America, Asia and in Europe.
They are active during the day.
Prevention: Clothes and insect repellent.


Sandfly

Size: 2,5mm.
They can transmit Leishmaniasis, the Aleppo Button and Bartonellosis/Oroya-Fever.
You find them as a disease vector in Africa, America, Asia, Europe and in the Western Pacific Area.
They are active during the night.
Prevention: Clothes, insect repellent and moskitonet.
